Design

The reverse, designed by W. H. J. Blackmore, features a shield displaying the historic coat of arms composed of the provincial arms of Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick, framed by elegant maple boughs. The inscriptions CANADA, 1914, and FIVE DOLLARS appear around the design.

The obverse, created by Sir E. B. Mackennal, bears the portrait of King George V. Both sides are bordered by a raised beaded circle.
