Description
The 2000 Canada Specimen Coin Set is an official collector issue from the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM), released to mark Canada’s entry into the new millennium. This seven-coin set features Canada’s circulating denominations from the cent through the two-dollar coin, each struck in the Mint’s distinctive Specimen finish, which combines frosted reliefs with smooth, satin-like fields that are superior to regular circulation strikes and clearly distinct from proof coinage.
This millennium issue is especially notable for the $2 “Knowledge / Le Savoir” Toonie, featuring a polar bear and cubs symbolizing the transfer of knowledge from one generation to the next. It is one of the most recognized and collected modern Canadian specimen designs.
The set is housed in the original Royal Canadian Mint leatherette-style presentation case, with the official specifications card included. The leatherette case shows a small tear, consistent with age and handling, but remains fully functional and presentable (see photos).
