Design

The reverse design by Canadian artist John Mantha brings together powerful symbolic elements that reflect how the Canadian flag is viewed both domestically and internationally. Encircling the design is a ring of 50 maple leaves, marking the flag’s 50th anniversary. The inscriptions include CANADA, DOLLAR, and the commemorative dates 1965–2015.

The obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt, along with the denomination and year of issue.
