Design

The reverse, designed by Canadian artist Julius T. Csotonyi, depicts a richly coloured wheat field viewed from deep within the tall grass, with a red barn resting quietly on the horizon. Towering stalks of wheat dominate the foreground, but upon closer inspection, the arrangement of wheat heads, leaves, and stems forms the unmistakable shape of a pronghorn concealed within the landscape. The seamless blending of wildlife and environment showcases a masterful use of illusion, light, and composition. The obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, along with the denomination and year of issue.
