Design

The reverse, designed by David Moore, brings the RCAF’s 100-year history to life. The Camel fighter, flown in WWI and as a trainer until 1929, appears on the left; the Spitfire, flown by RCAF squadrons overseas in WWII, on the right; and the modern F-35 Lightning II dominates the foreground, inspired by the lightning bolt in the background. The motto Sic Itur ad Astra arches above, while the RCAF roundel is centered below. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
